Do you think the government should financially assist people buying TV converter box while the government is so broke?

I don't think so!  TV is mostly for entertainment and that doesn't need government "bailout".  Money can be better spent somewhere else which help people's essential need.

People need health care assistance, so government sponsor them by Medicaid and Medicare.  People need food supply assistance, so government hand them food stamps.  Now people want entertainment and they don't want to pay, our government is handing them money that they don't have to ensure they'll be entertained!?

You have to have a HD TV, with HD receiver, while watching HD channel in order to tell the difference.
